Feed and Speed Rate Factors
Running saw blades at the correct feed and speed rates is important if the goal is to achieve desirable output. There is an optimum balance between blade speed and feed rate for every saw blade and every material to be cut. Proper adjustment of feed and speed rates will help to maximized blade life and assure a satisfactory cut. Feed rate is determined by the bandsaw, material size and shape, guide spacing, cutting fluid, and tooth size and shape. The greater the blade speed, the greater the feed rate — up to the limits imposed by the above-mentioned production factors. Blade Speed Bandsaw …
Vibration and Chatter
Vibration, worn wheels, ill-fitted belts, wobbly blades, and shoddy performance are all the result of bandsaw machine equipment neglect, malfunction, or both. They are also known causes of excessive noise in operation. By minimizing these sound issues, work environment is improved while raising bandsaw performance levels. Below are a few causes for excessive machine noise and vibration with possible solutions to the problem. Try switching blades — the raker and an off-set tooth pitch might cut down on squeal due to the left, right, off-set tooth pattern on the blade. Too low a feed rate — increase feed pressure. Check the guides — if they are cool …
Velox VX-460DSA Bandsaw
VeloxSaw offers a variety of bandsaw machines, manufacturing manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic models — each with a wide range of features designed for easy operation and heavy duty workload — taking into consideration large steel H-beams and heavy steel mold forms. A larger model offered is the Velox VX-460DSA bandsaw. A horizontal model known for specialty cutting of angles with a miter cut capacity, both left and right, of 90°, 60°, 30° and 15° angles. The 460DSA is a variable-speed drive which helps the saw adjust blade speed on various shapes and angles. It runs at a recommended speed of 106 – 317 per minute feed …
Trajan 914 Bandsaw
A leading manufacturer of bandsaw machines, TrajanSaw offers a line of industrial bandsaw machines for metal cutting available in horizontal and vertical designs. The quality-tested bandsaw which proves reliable in terms of power and performance is the Trajan 914 Roll-In Style bandsaw. The 914 is a vertical bandsaw with a one-hp three-phase motor and a 9″ x 14″ cutting capacity on rectangular stock. 14″ on a 0° cutting angle for round stock. The 914 offers four speeds to maximize use at 70, 140, 280, and 580 feet per minute. These speeds depend upon the types of materials being cut or shaped and as the manufacturer recommends. …
The Velox VX-330 DC
The Velox VX-330 DC is a useful and reliable bandsaw that can single or multi- cut (in stock). A dual-column bandsaw with a 7/8” to 13” round, 15 3/4” x 13” rectangle cutting capacity, and a blade speed of 50Hz to 60Hz depending on the model. The Velox VX-330 DC’s saw dimension requirement is a 13’6” l by 1 1/4” w blade. It uses a 5 hp motor. As a dual-column bandsaw, the Velox VX-330 DC has a touch screen and rotary encoder, as well as a hydraulic carbide guide. It offers the ability to program in different languages and a zero point auto-check function along …
