Hi-Lo Bandsaw Blades
A brief post about the Hi-Lo Bandsaw Blades usage and features. Most of the blogs about blades include the proper usage of blades and the appropriate work load that would fit for a specific type of blade. Most of the discussion centers around the carbon and bi-metal blades. These two types of blade are the most commonly used blades in the industry today, but what about the Hi-Lo bandsaw blade? This type of blade is useful and special in many ways. The Hi-Lo is a blade that allows for more types of cutting surfaces and an increased rate of cut. It …
Inconel
Inconel is an austenitic nickel-chromium-based super alloy that is usually utilized in high temperature applications. It can resist corrosion and oxidation, and it is also able to retain and maintain its structural integrity in high temperature environments. Inconel is commonly used in chemical processing, nuclear power, and petrochemical facilities. Because of its toughness, Inconel is an excellent choice for sea and aerospace applications. Inconel is also a material that continues to be a great challenge in the fabricating and metal cutting industries due to its toughness. So, what makes Inconel tough to work? The answer is rapid work hardening. Inconel is …
Titanium
Titanium has excellent properties that set it apart from other metals. Its durability and strength make it viable for a variety of applications. Titanium can be alloyed with aluminum, molybdenum, iron, manganese, and other metals. It also possesses exceptional corrosion resistance and a high melting point. Titanium has a relatively low density and the highest strength to weight ratio of any metal. This is why it is a widely used metal in a variety of engineering applications. These unique properties allow for titanium use in aircraft engines and their parts, spacecraft, missiles, ships, automobiles, prosthetics, architectural elements, and even in oil and chemical industries. Medical, aircraft, …
Bandsaws and Cold Saws
Bandsaws and cold saws are both made in order to help lessen the burden of machine shops tasked with cutting a variety of materials for industrial use. Both types of machine may be excellent at proving purpose, but these two machines are also quite different. Both the bandsaw and the cold saw differ in the type of blade used during a cutting operation. A cold saw uses a blade with circular teeth made of high speed steel or tungsten-tipped jaws. The cold saw is usually supported by an electric motor and gear reduction unit to control speed. A bandsaw uses a flat, continuous band of metal with …
